First you open the freshest cocoons and release a couple of humans, who both seem healthy. They thank you for what you have done, and one of them places a strange coin in you hand before leaving. You open more cocoons, but in these you find two more people who have already mutated. They attack you instantly, and you defend yourself the best you can. You get: XP 104 and Pirate Coin Start Spider battle

You cannot risk opening the cocoons, so you will show mercy and end the suffering of those who are mutating. You use your weapons to pierce the cocoons and kill them. This has been an experience that you will not forget. You get: XP 144 Party gets Merciful.

Tulah desperately uses her magic on the cocoons while the rest of you try not to disturb her. Instinctively, she knows how to control the magic within the cocoons and manages to reverse the mutation process in those already affected, saving their inhabitants from an uncertain fate. The rescued people are immensely grateful to Tulah, and among the gifts they give her before departing is a strange coin. As you finally regroup with Tulah and prepare to leave, she is crying in frustration, for the spider she knew was a benevolent creature and would never have allowed this to happen. You get: Shards 80, XP 104, the Pirate Coin, and an Item Draw (Choose from 6 items or Gold??)

(Sigrun): "It pains my soul to see these poor people abandoned to their doomed fate. Heed my words, for I, Sigrun, daughter of the storm, will summon the light that will ease your pain and give you a merciful rest." You step aside as Sigrun continues her chanting, and very soon, a lightning storm forms overhead. Suddenly, thunderbolts start striking the cocoons, releasing the creatures inside from the torment of their existence. As quickly as it comes, it leaves, and the sky clears again. If there was anything useful in the cocoons, it has been destroyed by the storm, but at least some shards have formed in the area, and you are able to gather them while Sigrun meditates on this.
