The back street leading to the main square is completely frozen. Luckily it seems that the main square is more sheltered, and the cold is a little less. From here you can see the frozen palace, but not what causes the cold. To advance, you have to cross through the back street. The ground is slippery, but you can't wait, and you have to run if you don't want to freeze.
