The Hatchery In a wet and dark chamber, there is a stone statue of the Great Bird holding a bowl with some blood, from which dark energies emanate, spreading throughout the room. It would be just another statue of the Great Bird, but this time it seems to serve a darker purpose. Hundreds of eggs of different sizes and species are scattered around the room, and they seem to be absorbing the dark energy. There is no doubt: the Great Bird's acolytes are corrupting these eggs for some dark purpose. Are you going to do anything about it?

You all agree to add a little blood to the statue's bowl, but the dark energies in the room interfere with your healing process, so the wounds you inflict to draw blood hurt more than usual and don't seem to heal anytime soon. But not everything is so bad; as the energy from the statue intensifies, so does it's effect. The statue collapses when the dark energies are at their peak, shattering into many tiny rock fragments, all imbued with powerful magic and therefore of great value as magic shards. You gather as many of these fragments as you can. You get: Shards 360 and XP 4. All heroes receive Open Wound in their deck. Open Wound

The statue is unable to resist the combined strength of the group, and it eventually falls and breaks with a thunderous noise. The magic that emanates from the statue slowly dissipates, and it seems the eggs are no longer under its influence. At least the remaining pieces of the statue are still imbued with magic and could be used as magic shards, so you store a good stash before resuming your journey. • You get: XP 56 and Supplies 70
