Finish Act 1, then take the Velkarath Mountains for either Act 2 or Act 3.
Use the "Knowledge for a Dream" node and accept Wilbur's quest to find a book about ancient technology.
In Act 4 (The Void), take the Light path north to the "Ancient Library" node.
Choose [Continue] to get the book. Wilbur unlocks.

Passive · Engineer — grant 1 Energize to a random hero each turn (party Energy ramp).

Spark (Lightning) + Wet combos for damage, plus he doubles as an Energy engine for the whole team.

Grukli — Wilbur is a mana battery/book-mage that fuels Grukli's energy-hungry Fury one-shot (or serves as the carry himself). [1][8]
Sigrun — Both are Spark generators; Wilbur is the more efficient spark engine while Sigrun cashes it into Storm Javelin, and either boosts the other's output. [9]
